Who Is the Leader of A-OK?You. Seriously! The group is run by consensus. Sounds cumbersome. It isn't. When someone feels there is a need for a business meeting, they call one by posting the announcement and an agenda on the Yahoo group. Whoever shows up is part of the decision-making. We have to come to consensus on agenda items or they are tabled. We post decisions on the Yahoo group; if there are any strong objections from people who weren't present, we revisit the issue at the next meeting. (Yes, just in case we reach an impasse, we have a circuit breaker. We haven't had to use it yet.) Administrative positions—Yahoo group, website and Wiki administrators; calendar-keeper, directory-keeper, new-member liaison—are on a volunteer basis and are rotated periodically. |
