A-OK's goal is friendship: forming new ones and strengthening old ones, both for kids and parents. Real friendship isn't quick. It develops over time, through repeated face-to-face contact and shared experiences. A-OK members create these opportunities by organizing regular activities and one-time events for each other. (Families for whom this is not feasible can contribute in other ways.) Almost all of our activities and events are free or low-cost. This helps make homeschooling affordable for our families; the cost of outside classes for a child or two can easily equal that of a private school. It also keeps the focus on community building, weeding out posts that target homeschoolers as a market or promote paid activities for the general public. (Most of us are members of other lists, so we already have access to that information.) Sound like something that would enrich your family's homeschooling journey?
